IP Address change

[link to this post]

Hi,

I noticed that I could not access of the sites in my office and and when I checked my IP address it seems to have changed now.

Did anybody else's IP address change recently?

Regards,

Oli

IP'S on VM are not static and can change at any time.

Again.. IP's are dynamic also meaning your subnet may change.

Example..

Lets say your IP was 192.168.1.150
That means your subnet is 255.255.255.0

So lets also say your ip change to 10.0.0.1
your subnet will now be 255.0.0.0

Probably node split and your modem is connected to a different bit of equipment at Virgin now which has one of the newer 92.... IP scopes.

If you have been changed to a different UBR then your IP address will change.

This can happen even when you're paying £10 a month extra for a 'fixed' IP address on the Business 10 Mbps service...

Ah yes forgot that one.

That's another of the new ones, I'd imagine if you check the reverse dns for your IP it now has virginmedia.com at the end of it too.
