Making wireless connection stronger... HELP

[link to this post]

Hi,
me again lol, i did a post yestaday saying about my boyfriends wireless connection he was having trouble with connectiong to his desktop pc, and he couldnt get a signal when he brought a wireless adapter, but that my laptop works fine in his flat. perfect signal.

Today he brought a wireless card, (asus one) the ones you open up the pc and then slot it in,
now hes got a connection, but its very low most of the time, and he has to put his desktop pc right close to his door, or cant pick up a signal. and most the time its quite low.
My laptop still works fine ,loads fast, 3 / 4 signal bars. works fine, its just his desktop pc.
is there anyway he could make his signal better? or is this the best we can do?
thanks

better or a external wireless aka usb. Most of the time laptops do come wih much better wireless than these cards.

Or consider homeplugs.

you should have replied in the original thread.

The computer case is blocking the signal. (faraday cage effect)

If the aerial is a screw in type on the new wifi card, he can buy an extension cable ebay or some where so the aerial is higher up above the computer case.

My aerial using an extension cable, has gone up behind the curtain and is on top of the curtain rail. in a bedroom.

http://www.solwise.co.uk/wireless-cable.htm

Scroll down and find a pigtail that will fit between card and the antenna that came with it.
Also could try a different antenna.

Alternately HomePlugs http://www.solwise.co.uk/net-powerline-av-push-piggy... and you need two of them, and avoids use of wireless completely.

Electrical noise degrades wireless signals, try and make sure the router isn't really close to any electrical equipment, or that the PC isn't really close to any electrical equipment (except itself)

my mum had a poor signal with her router right next to an old CRT TV and when she moved it, it increased significantly.
