Upload upgraded.. HURRAH!!

My connection stopped working today.. I waited an hour or three.. Still nothing. Replugged my cable modem and all was well again. AND I found my upload upgraded. Nice..

I thought Virgin were going to email customers when they were about to be upgraded though? I didn't get one, but no matter.

Im on the 10mb package, on Virgins Watford exchange/terminal wotsit.

Seems they are doing it rather than talking about it.

I turn my modem off every few days incase.

I got the email around 3 weeks after they upgraded my speed.

I assume they're doing it cabinet by cabinet, and won't email customers from that area code until all of those cabinets have been upgraded.

seems like they have slowed right down on this lately, ur the first person to mention an area not on the list in a few weeks now and the list online hasnt been upgraded in ages.

Seems VM have started dragging their feet as i said they would and this is a reason they wont issue a list of dates of when to expect the upgrades to be done in certain areas because aslong as people are not expecting they can do it at a snails pace and take aslong as they want.

seem to have been upgraded in tunbridge wells too.

these are small places been listed, not large areas, when its done it will be 100s long, so the pace is actually quite slow and if it doesnt speed up they will need more than 16 months.

The upgrade rate is fine, won't be 'hundreds' long and virtually everything will be done by middle of next year.

You can get a rough idea of the hubsites from an old upgrade schedule like this one.

It should be remembered that these 'large' areas obviously take longer to get ready so there's no surprise at all that there aren't that many of them present but there are certainly some quite substantial hubs enabled already.

Interestingly on that old upgrade plan the "Bristol area" includes Bath, Chapelton, Hawkfield, Nailsea, Trowbridge, Cheltenham...... but no mention of Bristol itself!

On the new rollout I know that Trowbridge and Nailsea have been done so far.... I hope they dont forget Bristol proper!

It shows Bradford, Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley, Halifax, Wakefield but no mention of Huddersfield which already has the upgrade.

That's an ongoing theme throughout that list. Note the same is true for Manchester, Middlesbrough, Nottingham, Lincoln, etc. It's the general area and parent then the specific child hubsites from the RHE in the area with a bit of inconsistency there presumably due to whomever drew up the list. When marked as done all are done.

Regardless I presented it as a guide to the sites, nothing definitive but it does show the majority of the sites.
