Another test. Hub 3 + 10M Cat5 + Netgear passive hub + 2m Cat5 + Bt home hotspot transmitter + house wiring + Bt Home hotspot receiver to tablet; result

Are you getting a Gigabit link showing when connected via cable? Some older kit and hubs are only 10/100 and will not get the full speed of your (I'm assuming) 100 Virgin speed.
