How long before new install gets up to speed???

Hi

Just had Virgin Media M200 installed � my downloads are around 50 megs and up load 20-24 megs � How long before my download speed will ramp up to nearer the 100-200 megs region?

Hub stats are hard to interpret �

Max traffic rate down 230000061 - I assume this is 230 megs!
max traffic rate up 22000061 - again, 22 megs I guess!

Looks like I am getting the up speed, but not the down and wonder if this just takes some time.

Phone transferred in a jiffy, no problems.

Many people will say it should acheieve the speed the second it's connected, however on the two connections I've had in the past the speed was wonky on the first day, but by second day it worked fine.

I am not sure if this is because the hub gets updated, but i've whitnessed this on two different pieces of equipment in different houses.

Although in this instance it looks like you might be connected by 2.4ghz rather than 5ghz. I only see around 50-55mb/sec from 2.4ghz. I found i had to reset the router when it was first setup as the band steering didn't work and i didn't want seperate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5ghz.

i just had Virgin Media M200 installed also. I got 215 Mbp/s straight away. There is no ramp up.

Are you using a PC with a Gigabit Ethernet connection?

Where are you testing your speed?

I get 215 Mbit/s SINGLE Thread on Speedtest.net by Ookla.

However, I only get around 100 Mbit/s Single thread on TBB speedtest. I don't know why that is.

P.S. Are you still using the TPlink homeplug?

I am still using the tplinks! And of course, this will be the basis of the problem for me.

Wasn't the case with the poor BT connection as the engineer tested the line speed with his own kit at the point of entry to the house, and it had been falling and was at 32/7 when I switched to Virgin. Even now, with "issues" I get 50/21 ...

Of course, the older ones only have 10/100 links to them � so I can only "inject" a max of 100meg onto the "house wiring network". Getting a pair of new ones in the next few days with 10/100/1000 links - hopefully will be much better.

My wifes computer used to only get 25 megs. and now also gets 50, so this leads me to believe that the old plugs are the problem and that there is quite some loss now the plug attached to the hub is in a different room. My computer has a gig interface, so will handle whatever comes out of the new plug �

Will report back when I have set the new kit up �

Glad to hear

Wireless AC should give you much better speeds than most homeplugs assuming your devices have a decent wirelsss AC chip. If you cannot get decent WiFi around the home I would investigate a good wifi mesh setup. Powerline has always been intermittent for me and I had the gigabit plugs*.
