Virgin Media - Compitition

[link to this post]

I am living in Peterborough and CityFiber are busy adding FTTP to most if not all of the city.

I just moved from Hampton where there is no FTTP just yet and no VM, to Woodston where there is VM but still not FTTP from CityFiber but it is coming.

Do we think VM would add better packages and speeds with better pricing to compete with them?

Currently a 900Mbps connection from them is around £55 IIRC but VM is about £79 for the 500Mbps (1GIG not here yet) and you have to have TV, Phone and mobile to get the 500mbps as it is! Crazy

Id love to get CityFiber when it comes but I am of course stuck with VM for 12 Months minimum unless I want to pay to leave sooner.

Virgin Media
Connection Speed: DL: 230Mbps UL: 22Mbps

No. Uptake of the highest tiers is so low it's not worth the bother. The highest tier is known as the 'vanity tier' for good reason.

Price competition there is plenty already.

VM want to keep pricing and packages as consistent as possible nationwide. The future exception being VM's own FTTP areas.

Building better networks, not just faster ones.
