VM Tweeks

Has anyone tried the VM Tweeks that are on their help zone on their website especially has anyone the SG TCP Optimizer?

Reason i ask is that it completely messed my partners connection up.

Since using it, web Browsing has become slow and it sometimes times out, downloading speed has imrpoved to start and then it drops to a rediculously low speed and then it also sometimes just hangs and sits there and does nothing.

Yup i've tried it and all seems fine here. You can always restore the backup the optimizer automatically creates. Only thing I can recommend is to un-do everything you have done - the advice they give on their website is actually quite true and will work for any connection - not sure why it hasn't for you though. Other forums have also given it a go and no reports of this happening.

i was gonna attempt it on my own connection but since this has happened to my partners i really dont want to chance it.

lets just say a user optamised their connection for 20mb now, and thet downgraded in the future, does that mean they would need to run that software again and change the settings to 10mb?

Yup as the computer is optimized for 20mb and not a lower speed. It would be fine if the article was titled "Optimize your connection" but unfortunately it says "Optimize your 20mb connection".

i ran it on mine and touch wood works fine.

It has improved my downloads, where i was getting usually around 1.7Mb/s im not getting 2.1 - 2.2mb/s

Even my Rapidshare downloads have improved.

There you go! MAYBE the problem with 20mb WAS actually down to us, the users, instead of Virgin!? People slate Virgin but at least they provide a help section on how to optimize your connection. Most wouldn't because of the extra drain on their network!

nope there is a 10mb

most of my problems have been to do with Virgin and i can prove that by the fact so many other people in my area has been experiencing the same.
