I just can't take anymore

[link to this post]

I'm on 8mb cable broadband with virgin media, I had been with Telewest since they started, but I can't take any more of Virgin's terrible (in my experience) service. I've had over a month of slow and intermittent usage with some kind of problem or disconnection occuring every evening. I've got 3 months left of a 12 month contract (was offered a combo deal last year), is there any way I can get out of this contract ?? I just want to leave and go and sign up an ADSL service elsewhere. Has anyone successfully paid up/got out of a running contract, and if so what steps should I take? thx.... shamzz..

The services for Virgin ADSL are up to 8mb. Services for cable are 2mb, 4mb, and 20mb. If you are wanting to ask for ADSL issues visit the VIRGIN ADSL forum. Try finding out what service you are on and then come back to the revelant forum so that you can get more specific help. If you are on ADSL then I saw someone on the Virgin forum who had a created a little program which if you start to get slow speeds and high pings it will automatically disconnect you and find a pipe which wasn't so congested. Quite good I thought.

Hope that helps!

Sorry, I did in fact mean 4mb (I have the cable service). Going back two months the service was perfect, I could even put up with the reduced download speeds on an evening when you go past the allocated bandwidth limit. But the last month to two months have been terrible! (in my area).

Out of interest, which area are you in? I'm in OX11.

I've had similar experiences. Effectively no service, but for just one or two random evenings each week in my case. Until a month or so ago, I thought the service was fantastic.

For me the worst is lack of customer service. I won't dial a premium rate number just to have them tell me I need to power cycle the modem. A letter is on its way.

I'm not sure if moving house resets the contract to 12 months, but even if it does, mine will be up in mid October anyway, so I'm not going to bother fighting that one. So in a couple of weeks I'll probably be giving my month's notice, then I'm going to try the new Be Value service (Be LLU has recently been enabled in my area!)
