Has Virgin introduced Phorm?

[link to this post]

Yesterday my connection went down twice in a row for about 3 - 3 1/2hrs a time and now i am getting all sorts of popups when visiting sites and even reading emails. For example i was reading an email from Uswitch and i had a popup about mobile phone deals when the email from Uswitch was about new mobile deals.

I have scanned my PC using Avast 4.8, Spybot and Adaware and hasnt found a thing!

Can you check to see if you have any cookies for webwise or phorm please. Also a few tracerts to websites you have visited would be useful.

Given the recent public statements I'd be surprised if they've done this - but with people like Phorm involved I think there's no limit to how low people will sink!

Double-check that you haven't picked up adware somewhere!!! Ad-Aware 2007 is excellent for this task

Otherwise, they may be doing an unannounced test

Hmm

Yesterday when i was on the skynews website i was getting a lot of advertisement popups appear every time i opened a new article. Maybe they are secretly testing it or maybe it was just sky.

I spyware and virus free as i have a battalion of stuff to keep it that way. Too late to check my cookies though as i cleaned up the computer last night.

Not happened so far today.

Download Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/)

Install Adblock Plus (http://adblockplus.org/en/)

Come back and let us know if you continue to get the pop ups in question.

Been P2Ping? - Rogue MP3 Trojan streaks across P2P networks - though I would have thought Avast would have it in their filters by now (I have seen it take 3+ days though from receiving virus to it being detected non-heuristically)
