This is a real shame. I get 52.5mbps down all the time. You really should be working harder to get this fixed and not taking any rubbish from them.

what speed internet do you subscribe to?

for the 20Mb and 50Mb connections you need to make sure your cable modem is up to scratch and can take DOCSIS 3. The scientific Atlanta EPC and the Ambit / VM modems are ok but the earlier motorola ones need to be changed. if your modem is old, call vm and tell them you need a repalcement.

Its the standard 50mb modem that VM give you when you take out their 50mb product. Im not stupid enough to try and use an older non DOSIS3 capable modem

The tech guys on the newsgroup say its an SNR issue with the UBR witch im told has been fixed yet my speeds are still carp.

Ringing them is no use as all they do it send an engineer round, he does a speedtest gets 50mb and leaves.. despite the fact that actual data transfer speeds from their OWN server is not up to par with what it should be.

Virgin require an engineer install for 50Mbit and part of this install is a DOCSIS 3 modem. A VMNG 300 / branded Ubee U10C035U.

Cannot rely on the windows progress bar for figures, as caching, previous download can cause oddities to the values displayed

Its not cached.. its a file i never downloaded before.

Call virgin and when you get through to them ask them to do a check for you in "Red Tools". This way when they agree it is an SNR issue there is proof of your complaint and after 24 hours you can start to ask for refundss
