Holding down shift for a new route

[link to this post]

I think I have all the evidence I need now to leave Virgin Media. After putting up with disappointing speeds and random packet loss on their 10Mbps broadband I have been calling their support technicians whenever the service dropped below 1MBps. Today I have spoken to 4 staff members and the best fix has just from Abhi who asked me to hold down the shift key on my keyboard while unplugging the Ethernet cable from the router. This apparently moves me onto a different route and would fix my speed problems. I asked him to repeat his suggestion and back it came.

I find this level of arrogance from the people who are there to help completely unacceptable and bordering on offensive.

I once got told that my connection would be slower in winter because the cold weather makes the electrons slow down, however in summer i wouldn't notice the opposite as my connection was limited to 20 meg and in summer the temperature was above the minimum needed to go at full speed....

Cheers

Grim

I would have thought you'd have got better results holding down the Shift key when plugging in the Ethernet cable!

Nothing about throwing salt over your left shoulder? Eye of frog, and toad of newt?

The tech guy also forgot to mention the most crucial part. Whilst holding down shift you must also be standing with your right leg only. your left leg must be outstretched from the waist at exactly 45 degrees and your right arm pointing straight up perpendicular to the floor. both eyes must be closed and you must touch your nose with your tongue. Do this whilst reciting Buddhist mantras and the resonating frequencies will kickstart your connection and get it working again
