DNS Issues

Is it just me, or are Virgin's DNS servers a bit of a pain? I get random 'page cannot be displayed' errors quite frequently. Does anyone else experience this? I might try the OpenDNS serviers - is there any disadvantage to using these rather than setting the router to acquire them automatically from the ISP i.e. Virgin's?

I'm on their Cable service by the way.

Some say OpenDNS may be quicker - I've personally found them slower.

Ive been using Google OpenDNS http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ from before my cable days and have been pleased with them. I had issues using OpenDNS on mobile broadband and prefer to keep the same DNS on all my machines so I ditched them.

will test out lots of DNS servers for you and provide more info about them than you are likely to want.
