Strange Speedtest results

I've just got 50Mbps (see post above). I'm clearly zapping along at mega speeds, but my tests on several sites show less tham 10Mbps; any idea what's going on?

Just the way it is. Find a site that appears to be accurate and stick to it - there is no point on bouncing around various sites.

I personally find the London server on Speedtest.net is the most accurate for me.

Yes - at the time you did the test, your route through the VM network and out across other ISPs until you reach the speed test site - was able to get that speed.

Its like the M25 and other motorways, not all directions and all carriageways are congested at the same time. Sometimes you can do 70mph going one way, and only 25mph the other.

Try doing traceroutes to the servers as well.
