The download speed can go down to 48 sometimes, but I think that is due to congestion.

I know. It is great not having to wait long time for downloads to finish.
Also I am thinking of getting the TV with it as well.
Is their TV service any good?

I don't know from personal experience but I do know that my neighbour has cancelled his and moved to Sky and says the pictures are vastly better. He also mentioned that quite often he couldn't get some on-demand content because it was over-subscribed (means nothing to me as I don't have VM TV).

no probs with it...tv xl with v+hd box,does what it is supposed to do with no interuptions..

only thing that i would say on a negative note is,sometimes there can be a slight lag when switching between the options in the menu..not really an issue but it can be annoying sometimes......

Just being nosey but why do people use the VM service for sky etc. Would it not be cheaper to go direct with sky?.

No need for a dish & no need to pay 2 seperate bills are the only 2 reasons that spring to mind (but I don't get TV from Sky or VM so I'm clueless)

Thanks for the great comments.

I've just (finally!) moved to the UK. I'm looking at living in areas like Hertford or similar, and it looks like that my only option for fast internet is cable (FTTC unavailble, or a tentative date in December 2011) and thus Virgin.

Are there any significant downsides (i guess if it is my only option then there aren't any!), or anything that I should be aware of?

I'll be mostly web-browsing and usenet-ting..... I have read the above comments on Usenet throttling.....


Also there seems to be some discrepancy between the Virgin checker and SamKnows? Is this usual?
