Hi Andrew - yeah, lord knows what's happening with that.
Basically I am on a private tracker. They display a message to say whether your client is "connectible" or not.immediately after you log in and it's visible all the time, to be refreshed occassionally. It requires that you are trying to seed a torrent, or that you are in the process of downloading. If you are not connectible, you cannot share torrents with others, and hence your sharing ratio will just be continually worse until you get banned from the site.
If I logged on with my real IP, to the site, then it was connectible.(after I messed around a bit with some settings etc)
If I logged on with the VPN, then it was not, even though I had opened all ports, all port forwarding etc, etc.
I also set the Superhub into Modem mode, but that did not solve the problem (although it solved another problem - it gave me a new IP address with Virgin).
So I figured the problem had to be with VPN. I logged a ticket with them.
I got a workaround from an engineer at the VPN provider TorGuard.
He says they are working at fixing this long term - they are aware of the problem with being un-connectable on private tracker when accessing VPN.
In the meantime it's possible to use port 1080 in uTorrent.
I tried that, and it solved the problem on the private tracker in question, and it was also possible to download really fast while on that port, which I had not expected.
