You may be interested to know that Ono in Spain are soon launching a 500Mb cable service.

This may be using the shiny new 24 downstream 8 upstream Puma 6mg chipset.

There is already a 500Mb service available, delivered via 16 downstreams in Sweden.

500Mb out of 800Mb downstream capacity.

If people were willing to pay a sensible price then am sure it would turn up in UK, but everything points to people worrying about 50p here and there rather than the quality of the service they buy.

Indeed. On the current exchange rate that product is over 87GBP/month.

Then there's the competition angle. It's competing against 100Mb and 1Gb fibre services using local MANs.

You seem to have a very inconsistent approach.

You say you downgraded to 8Mbps ADSL but would have liked STM free cable. All tiers are faster than 8Mbps even with STM. Plus you claim to never invoke STM anyway.

Why would you even consider 500Mbps when you have said you no longer download much at all and your 8Mbps is perfectly adequate.

Very confusing.
