Looks like the only remaining option would be a lease line then. Or bonded ADSL for extra speed - you'd only need about 30 of them to match the VM connection I berate...

TBH it isn't really the quality that irks it's the postcode lottery.

Incidentally on the 3G front ... http://www.digitalham.co.uk/web/broadband/mobile-bro...

The postcode lottery will never end, as once you get one set of upgrades done, then another divide appears e.g. the one that B4rn, Hyperoptic etc are creating by daring to offer Gbps.

The next step will be the areas that offer pure point to point fibre and can in 10 years start selling 3 Gbps and faster.

The only way a divide can be avoided is to mandate ONE infrastructure provider and every retailer is forced to buy the final mile connectivity from them.

It was actually the postcode lottery within VM I meant. There are many areas now that look pretty good but unfortunately mine isn't one of them. I stick with VM because it is still cheaper for me unless I took plain ADSL and I don't trust my phone line. The jitter is high but by Vonage VOIP box copes with that. I'm more active on the internet in the day than evenings these days and it isn't all that bad then.

BTW did you spot my added comment that VM no longer offer ADSL to new customers in the other thread?

As above due to cost a leased line isn't an option, bonded ADSL isn't an option due to lack of e-side pairs.

The option is to kick back and wait.

What do you think will come to your aid - technology or a removal van?

So maybe 6 months then? Cabinets here appeared about 3 months before going live.
