Closer to 6 weeks than 6 months unless there are serious issues.

I guess you'll be very pleased about that then.

I remember watching the boxes going in and checking the availability for ages. Then I saw the exchange had been declared enabled but it was refusing an order from me. I eventually tried an address just up the road and it said that was fine. I did some checking and every property off the same pole as me was showing no FTTC. I called BT (the ISP) - no joy. Then I contacted the CEO office and they eventually got it sorted. When I placed my order there was a three week lead time. On the day one bloke showed up and connected up the phone line. The FTTC install was a no show. They then gave me a new date three weeks away which would have been past my VM cancellation so I told BT to stick it where the sun don't shine and got a discount from VM for staying instead.

The moral here is when Openreach are involved there are plenty of chances for things to go wrong. I hope you have more luck. I repeat this tale on boards quite frequently so you may have seen it before. I offer no apologies because the more that know just how useless Openreach are the higher the odds that one day the regulator may rethink their nutty idea of putting every phone line user at the mercy of a completely unaccountable monopoly. Not that I'm bitter of course...

The enabling of this cabinet is the culmination of work on my part since February of last year.

I've had far more exposure to the issues around this than I could possibly wish for, but all seems to be going in the right direction now.

If you've managed to get them to enable a cabinet you've earned my respect over and above that you already had for your knowledge.

I'm not sure if respect is really appropriate so much as sympathy. smile

The level of [censored] mindedness it took was off the scale including such lovely activities as working out exactly how many homes the cabinet passed, local people doing leafleting, an appearance by my lovely fiancee on TV, you get the idea.

By cable lenth it's a shade under 400m.

Wholesale checker estimates 56.6 down, 18 up which seems about right.
