Seems on the signup page for VM, if you enter an address it will tell you if services already exist, I checked the 10 nearest houses to me and 9 have VM O_o.
For giggles I chose vivid 200, max tv and basic phone, and came to over £140 a month, crazy money for TV services now days.

I think mine says services exist, which is because the previous owners had NTL - so there is a coax / isolator point in the front room. It doesn't mean people are buying services from VM.

Lucky - means you won't get the "To the occupier" junk mail I get saying "Your road is already connected!".
It will be usual database accuracy issues.

You just have to choose the right time to sign up.
