The levels are "correct" the issue is that I am on the top tap in the cabinet, and with 90 meters of the larger coax it should be better apparently.

The ducts here are 30 years old, and full of old cables and soil etc. They had problems pulling this one a few years ago, perhaps its got damaged?

In reply to a post by alunj:
After having a lot of issues with the GRE tunnel and static IPs , Virgin removed the tunnel for me. That was all working fine as has been pretty good last few weeks at 550mbps.
Imagine my suprise today its now running at 7-800mbps ! Any ideas !

Given this received the necromancy treatment yes.

Very rarely customers connect to the network and the downstream service flow rate limiting doesn't kick in properly - you get an uncapped downstream.

This is not intentional and a modem reboot will undo it.

That's quite literally it. Happens to business and residential customers every so often and is just a software glitch, albeit one that's kinda cool for the customer it impacts.

Nothing else to add.

Building better networks, not just faster ones.

Hey Carl that sounds sane but the router has had several reboots and it persists.
I was wondering if they had sorted the GRE issues out as I need my statics but cant bear the poor performance. The dynamic (non gre) has been solid as a rock .

I will run those tests netizen asked for ; i missed the response as email notification from here doesnt seem to work.

Anyone know if the GRE affect the MTU/MSS I assume yes
