Just wondering if anyone else is equally frustrated with VM's Wifi Max service? I had email advertising WiFi Max and thought it would replace the BT Total Home Wifi disk solution for having WiFi accessible around my home via SHub 4. I opted into the service and received one of their pods - I plugged in the supplied Wifi Pod, re-enabled Wifi 2.4 & 5Ghz on Shub 4 and disconnected the BT solution. Wifi Max has mandatory 'intelligent wifi' which in theory seems excellent as it would stop contention with other neighbours wifi on the same signal and bands.... However after a couple of days I had some device hangs - checking the BQM then I noticed some very high latency and dropped packets... I NEVER had this with BT Total Home; I contacted VM Support and an engineer visited my home and adjusted settings e.g. power ... and support ordered me another pod.... further issues and support ordered me another pod (making 3 in total) and another engineer visited who told me that WiFi Max doesn't WORK for some customers and it is all to do with VM's intelligent Wifi service!! Seems the Shub does check for contention but communication to the pods doesn't happen and there becomes a delay - hence high latency and dropped packets.
I made a formal complaint to VM saying that Wifi Max is not fit for purpose and doesn't meet the guarantee but VM although confirming that this does not work for ALL customers dispute that this is their responsibility.
I've now gone back to BT Total Wifi disk solution and its not missing a beat ... no dropped packets and no high latency.
Seems VM aren't reliable intelligent after all compared to their competitor!!
