Throttling ?

[link to this post]

Does anyone know if Virgin is Throttling or otherwise restricting useage ?. I do NOT download large files I simply browse the internet But I do have a lot of Tabs open on Firefox and Chrome. Now in past week I find accessing thos Tabs labourious and very slow. Something is not right.

Web browsers can slow down with heavy tab usage, Virgin Media no longer throttle traffic as far as I am aware.

Thanks for the reply. Don't laugh, but would 100 tabs X 5 windows (i.e. 500 tabs approx) count as "heavy" ?. What I thought was that maybe because I Ctrl, Alt Delete closed the Browser windows, then re-opened them in morning by Restore Sesssion, it might appear as a DDOS attack/overload VM serveres ?.

Nope, just a DDoS on your own computer as it runs out of memory.

Thanks. Yes I did consider that may be the case, and I guess even the 64gb Ram couldnt handle that.

Why on earth would anyone in thier right mind keep 500 tabs open and expect everything to be the same in the morning....................................are you a very young NSA employee that thinks it works like the movies ?

It was fine for months. Maybe I simply tipped over the limit. Anyway it still opened fine each morning for at least 6 months, no problem at all. It still opnes fine but just is slower loading.

In 30 years of using web browsers, i've never come across one that doesn't leak memory. Keep your tabs to under 50 and you'll be just fine.
