FTTP MDU Installation

Last month Virgin Media contractors installed fibre in my apartment building. We were told the RFS is expected to happen at some point this month. I have noticed a box above my apartment front door. What is it? Is it an ONT?

Is there a contact at Virgin Media I can chase on when the service will be available?

If each apartment main doorway has one similar above it, then that looks like Virgin's equivalent of the Point of Entry (POE) enclosure. Basically this is where the serving fibre cable enters the apartment. The POE keeps it neat so no holes or penetrations are visible and also hides away any further push-fit type points of inter-connection or splicing for the serving fibre.

However given that there is a fibre in and a fibre going out - it may also be an inline splice enclosure. Or indeed it might actually serve both purposes.

Either way, looks like the physical side of things is fairly well complete there.

The cable seen entering an exiting will contain (say) 16 individual fibres, with one used for OP's apartment and the remaining fibres containing around the corridor to other apartments.

Yes each apartment front door has one of those Virgin boxes above it.
Since they been installed we haven’t any Virgin Media contractors visit us.
In wondering is there any way better obtaining the RFS date from Virgin Media?
