Do the VM VIPs on here know if the VM user forum is ever going to be reopened, or have VM decided to just close it ?

Looks like it is temporary but I expect is a risk existing content might be wiped depending if they have a migration path.

VM are incompetent in almost everything they do, migrating posts between forum databases is just another aspect of this.

Or was this a way of closing it down without giving anyone a chance to complain on the forum?

I suspect that they started with good intentions, but even migrating a single forum to another platform is a substantial undertaking and merging 2 forums might be a step too far. So I think they will struggle with this for several months before realising it is too hard and then some bright manager will decide at around 6 months that as they have managed without any forum for so long, they might as well abandon the whole project.

I was curious if the old cableforum site got a revival, and looks it may have done as they have now shut off access to guest users.

Of course I dont think was planned well, as there is no login button for account holders (and like many modern sites you get auto logged off when not accessing for a short time), and also no contact us button to report the mess they made.
