Vodafone FTTP Availablity (Openreach)

[link to this post]

Hopefully leaving Plusnet soon to get FTTP. After the price reductions by Vodafone yesterday I'll likely move there.

When I check their online system I can order 100 & 200mbps but there's no 500 which I want. Can anyone explain why? I can order it with TalkTalk and BT.

Vodafone sales have confirmed I can't order 500 as well.

Cheers

They might not have enough capacity on their backhaul at the handover exchange serving your premises with FTTP.

Perhaps they will upgrade it at some point in the future at which time the higher bandwidth services may become available to order.

Cheers. Hopefully they fix the issue before the offer is over. Might try TalkTalk and see if they will price match.

Having just taken a Vodafone 115/20 service I'm pleasantly surprised by the performance. They're clearly pricing aggressively to gain market share.

I tried them a few years ago on FTTC and they aren't who you want when things are going wrong - rather than press Openreach for the line to be fixed, they moved pretty quickly to waiving early termination fees in order to encourage me elsewhere.

Of course there's always the risk they'll go the way of other mass-market ISPs and oversubscribe their network, but for now they're a solid budget option, especially given they'll set up a static IP upon request.

Thanks for the info. Its likely either Vodafone or TalkTalk and im not sure either would be great if something went wrong.

As Pheasant suggests it's likely a capacity issue.
Vodafone often limit the higher tiers in areas that are congested/awaiting upgrades.

I've seen a few examples of existing customers who are suffering with congestion being given dates of planned upgrades.
So if you can manage to get through to their 2nd line tech support they might be able to tell you if/when any upgrades are planned.
2nd line tech support may only be reachable by existing customers though.
