Degraded line

[link to this post]

My line has gradually been getting worse, has now dropped to a sync speed of 61.49 Mbps according to the VF router.

The BT checked shows hand back speeds for
Clean: 67.0
Impacted: 64.3

Observed Speeds VDSL
Max Observed Downstream Speed 61.68
Max Observed Upstream Speed 16.88
Observed Date 2023-05-25

Vodafone tell me the threshold for faults is 61.3, which my line is beneath, but are refusing to do anything about it. Upload speeds have dropped from close to 19 Mbps to about 15 Mbps.

I was using an old VR router, but they had me switch over to a new one and that is delivers the figures above (the old one was fractionally better).

Nothing else plugged in. Tried with a filter into the engineers socket. I also not the interleaving seems to have been turned on as pings to bbc.co.uk used to be a rather impressive 10-11ms, now are now closer to 18-19ms

Vodafone Fibre (Superfast2 - 80/20), Draytek 130, DrayTek 2925, DrayTek AP-910c x 2
(Gone but not forgotten: AP-700, 2820n x 2, 2800vg, 2800, HG612)

Speedtests:

The line is managed by BT DLM it will go down as the quality of the copper gets worse and worse Get FTTP as soon as your able

on the page that shows you them figures will show you the handback speed

I pretty much doubt your handback threshold is 61.3 the handback is always below the lowest estimate your line is capable of so wont hand back with only a 9 meg drop

Typical checker readout is
..................................................max down...,,,,,Low Down.....Max up....Low Up......and HAND BACK rate
VDSL Range A (Clean)...................80................... 60............... 20.........18.4.................... 53.5
VDSL Range B (Impacted)..............80....................55.6.............20..........17.......................49

so your hand back at between 53.5 and 49 is usually around 7 meg lower than the lowest estimate before BT will reset the DLM
