PN No Work Started

[link to this post]

As you can see from my other thread I’m battling to be able to order cityfibre services, road/paths dug up over a year ago, repeatedly told I can order services in the coming weeks to never happen, finally received a reply from the ISP servicing my area through cityfibre today and it doesn’t look good, seems to have gone from bad to worse, will I ever be able to order this new full fibre service?.

(Thanks for your interest, unfortunately we’ve come across challenges that stop us from connecting your property right now).

Spoke to the ISP that is servicing this area through cityfibre and they have spoken to cityfibre and this was the reply I got from the ISP.

(The PN that will service your address hasn't had work started on yet. As work hasn't been started, its classification isn't at a stage where they release dates to us on potential availability. The release of estimate installation dates is closely controlled by City Fibre - but now work has recommenced they will start making significant progress).

I don’t quite understand this email from the ISP but it seems I’ve still got a long wait despite being told numerous times I’m only weeks off being able to order, can anyone explain what this PN thing exactly is and in simple terms if I’m actually close to being able to order services or am I really a long way off still?.

Thanks.

PN = Primary Node. Similar to fibre aggregation nodes in Openreach's network, could be underground or a cabinet depending on how CityFibre are deploying in your area.

So it sounds like your street has been dug, but there is not yet a connection back to the CityFibre Exchange. Is yours the area the contractor went bust? Suspect they are trying to work through the mess of part finished builds that probably left.

Lite Access UK, no idea how there legal issues are going on with CityFibre.https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2021/03/fibre-...
I understand how annoying this is for you (tomxlisa), I am in the same sort as boat as you are. There where digging up the road before first lockdown and not been back since but there are activating other parts of town ever few mounths. I also would like to use there services. The only diffrance for me I am not in area that Cityfibre had contracted out build to Lite Access UK.

Thanks for the explanation, what I find annoying though is I was constantly told it would be a couple of weeks until I can order services and now this, why does the cityfibre checker say there is a problem with connecting my house up then, I find that very odd, just so annoying as I’ve been waiting well over a year now for services, there’s a cityfibre cabinet literally over the road and there is a dolly if that’s what you call them outside my gate, I am in the area that the contractor went bust but that’s been resolved now and new contractors have been in for months now, what’s most annoying is there are roads that can order services now that were dug up after where I live, how does that work out, I’m guessing it’s gonna be months and months still before I can order then, cityfibre seem pretty useless and you can’t actually speak to anyone, so you’re kinda left in the dark with it all.

Yes very annoying, being told I can order in the next couple of weeks which never seems to come and then this now where my postcode shows there’s a problem with connecting my premises, the ISP saying the PN hasn’t had work started on it yet and not being able to talk to cityfibre directly you’re totally left in the dark, massively annoying as well when there is a cabinet literally across the road and a dolly outside my gate, road dug up over a year ago, but yet still can’t order anything and no one to speak to so I can get straight clear answers.
