Static IP ?

Asking for a friend who has recently transferred to Vodafone FTTP via Cityfibre.

A network scan is showing his external hostname as static-x-x-x-x.vodafonexdsl.co.uk. (x replaces the IP4 address currently allocated).

Does use of the word "static" imply that a static address has been allocated to the account?

He is on a domestic broadband account.

I've got a static address with Vodafone (direct, not via Cityfibre) and mine follows the same format. If your friend check their bill, I think they should see a line for Static IP address (zero cost).
