Using BT phones & extensions

[link to this post]

Just a few questions on Full fibre.

1. Can I plug in my current BT phones into the Vodafones hub thing?

What's the point of two outlets on the hub! Who has two phones in the same room. I have four BT extension sockets around the home. Which leads to...

2. How can I get another phone in another room to work?

3. Will the Gigaset A580IP work?

Should be able to.

I believe only one of the two phone jacks works. Maybe with different software the router could provide a different DN to each jack

As you are on Full fibre the existing master phone socket and it's extensions are not needed for internet or phoning, so I think you should be able to connect a lead from the hub to the master socket which would then mean the extensions can be used.
I'm no expert on this so am not sure if any rewiring of the master socket is needed.

I think I have seen details for wiring the output of router phone socket to the master socket hence retaining the existing distribution wiring.
I can't see any reason that the A580IP wouldn't work.

Some info here https://community.bt.com/t5/Home-phone-including-Dig...
but the reference to Smart Hub having built in Dect base station and BT Digital Voice Adaptor should be ignored. The Vodafone 'Digital Voice Adapter' is a male RJ11 to female BT Phone lead with a ring capacitor.

Yes, that’s the issue, if done incorrectly, the VOIP output could feed back down the external copper pair to wherever that goes, not ideal at all, and may well cause faults for others or voice issues on your exertion wiring. The incoming pair needs dissing off.
