OTP via phone

[link to this post]

Since moving to vodafone it would seem that when I'm sent an OTP (via my bank) and when ask to press a number. I get the response "Sorry I didn't receive a response", try again. On trying again I get the same message, plus "good bye" and the call is ended.

When I phone the bank, I can go through all their prompts, pressing all the numbers they need. Therefor the nothing wrong with my phones. I've tried all of my phones here, two wired and three cordless. I had no problem before going fibre.

Vodafone also send us something via the phone. No idea what as when we press a number as asked it doesn't work, as above.

Question is who needs to fix this? Is it the Vodafone network or the bank?

Can you not receive the code as a text message on a mobile phone?

( IIRC BT used to convert text messages to speach.)

I *think* the OP is receiving an SMS, and then responding to the SMS by using their phone's "reply" function.

(e.g. "Reply 1 if this transaction is valid, or 2 to query it")

By the sounds of it (pardon the pun) DTMF tones are not being correctly interpreted by the bank.

I think you mentioned calling Vodafone - but do you have any issues with any other numbers dialled; that is they're not being able to recognise your pressed number entry in their IVR call menus (e.g. press 1 to speak to sales)?
