Are you trying to get the built in VoIP function of the router to work with an attached phone or are you just trying to get Bria working?

Adding the outbound proxy setting in Bria with your suppliers outbound proxy is likely to sort the audio problem

i am just trying to get Bria to work, my setup is as follows:

i have a laptop that connects direct to my router via ethernet and/or wireless and the Bria software is on my laptop not the actual PC that the router is sitting on, so the only problem i seem to have is that when making a call the other person can hear me but i cannot hear them, could you please explain what you mean by

"Adding the outbound proxy setting in Bria with your suppliers outbound proxy"

im not too sure what to do on that,

thanks

Your VoIP provider is likely to have something called a NAT Proxy or Outbound Proxy - this gets around most router / firewall related problems.

Which provider are you using?

The company i work for runs its own sip server, so everything comes through our own servers, if that makes sense, i think we sometimes use Sipgate or draytel, if that helps anymore.

when using a sip phine and i have to specify the STUN server or the Sip it goes to sip.access2.co.uk

Ah - not likely there will be an outbound proxy you can use then.

The softphone has worked fine with a router you've previously used?

Try disabling the firewall on the router....

The Speedtouch routers also have something called SIP ALG turned on by default... May need to turn that off - which is a bit of a tricky task.

yea, the softphone has worked fine when i have been using it at work, i have never had any problems with it, the routers at work are Draytek Vigor's and its all been fine, when ive spoken to o2 they have mentioned about port forwarding, but i cant really see that being an issue? also not sure on what exactly needs forwarding port wise, i have tried turning the firewall off and still the same problem,

the o2 wireless box II is a Thomson TG585 v7, but im not sure what SIP ALG is or how to turn it off?

Classic NAT issue, the PORTS you need forward(make open) are 5060 UDP/TCP and 10,000 - 20,000 (this depends on which ports your provider passes the voice over default is 10,000 +)

Also check the Stun settings on your Softphone, you can set them to stun.counterpath.net this may help you, save trying to fiddle about with you router to much.

thanks for the reply, ill give it a try when im home from work and get back to you.

apparently DMZ can be used on the o2 wireless box II? so i am going to try it and specify the IP of the laptop that i will be using the softphone on as this might sort it out
