New to VoIP - can I use my old handset?

[link to this post]

We signed up to Trooli FTTP about a year ago but had to also take a landline from them due to our house alarm needing to dial out.

We've now switched our alarm to GSM and cancelled the phone line.

We'd still like to keep a local number for schools/doctors/parents to contact us and I have signed up for sipgate basic

The router we got from Trooli is a Technicolor DGA4231 which has 2 x RJ11 sockets labelled with a phone icon

Is it as simple as connecting our old handset into the router and configuring the admin interface with the sipgate account, or is some sort of adapter needed?

TIA

If you can access the sip / VoIP settings on the router the yes you can just plug in a phone, tough the sip/VoIP on the router may be locked down for the ISP

I would get a SIP DECT to use with sip gate basic see link below, I use yea link desk phone as you can register multiple devices see link below for a list of setup guides

Generally yes, if you can to enter the sipgate basic connection details into the Trooli router and get it to show that it has registered to the sipgate account. Sipgate do allow multiple devices to register to the same account.

Thanks for your help

The activation code came in the post yesterday

All set up and working now

I had to dig out an RJ11-RJ11 cable from an old ADSL router
