Voipfone Account Closure

[link to this post]

/Start Rant

I cannot believe this!

After receiving an e-mail from Voipfone advising that unless I logged into my account it would be closed, which I promptly followed and logged into my account, I have today received an e-mail informing me my account has been closed.

What on earth!

And of course, you can ONLY contact them Mon-Fri 9-5!

I may get my account re-opened (only because I still had a balance on my account) but once that's sorted I will never use them again!

No excuse for such shoddy customer service but I think there is an argument to also make a chargeable call every so often to help stop this from happening.

Indeed, and that's also a fair point. I did ask for refund (a long time ago)) but they flatly refused, so I had left the credit on intending to use it.

Not convinced I will get this sorted.

Update: I rang Voipfone and the person I spoke to just reactivated the account.

I will use up the money I have with them and look to close the account in a few months.

Just glad it's working - for now!

Not great this happened in the first place but I am pleased Voipfone Customer Service at least unlocked the account.

When I no doubt have no option but to move to VOIP I will at least consider them now but this type of "sht" always puts me off.

i suspect we will never know the full story behind this issue. Once investigated in full detail, I put my money on the customer failing to follow the terms and conditions of the service which are by no means onerous. With a call deposit unused this means there is a POTS style number allocated to the identity where a monthly fee of £3.60 is payable. It's your choice of the amount of call deposited made which can be as low as £5.

Where the monthly fee is not paid the service is suspended.

Voipfone provides a solid reliable service IHMO with unforeseen issues solved quite quickly. It is true that telephone support is not 24/7 but their support email address covers the gap. By all means select an alternative provider, but if you wish to port out the number there is a charge.

In my experience, if someone is unhappy with the service that Voipfone provides then it's very unlikely that any supplier is going to meet their requirements.

Thanks jpm,

As I said to trolleybus I was having a rant.

If I used VoIP more I’d use A&A for my number.
