Using 2 VoIP/SIP phones with the same router

[link to this post]

Good Evening,

I intend (in the not so distant future) to purchase a Gigaset N300IP for use with Sipgate and possibly another VoIP provider along with having my existing TT PSTN line connected to it.

At present I have a Cisco SPA508G which is connected to a POE Switch in my home office, which I will keep connected.

My question is, do I need to adjust any settings on either phone? I believe I read that if you have two different phones you need to amend them in order not to cause any configuration issues?

Thanks in advance for any advice smile

CJT.

Currently on TalkTalk Fibre 150

Previously on NOW TV Broadband up to 38 Mbps, then BT Broadband up to 80Mbps, then Pluse8 Broadband up to 80 Mbps, then Hyperoptic 100Mbps.

You shouldnt have to configure anything differently
I would get 2 lines from sip gate as you can set it up so that the 2 incoming lines ring one phone it also makes the both lines busy if you are on one of the lines (saving missed calls)

sipgate also handle all the lines so you only need to configure the gateway with 1 account.

If you are going to have two different VOIP providers you really need to set listening ports for SIP and RTP to random and set a range for each, the help information within the N300 interface will give you more info on this.

I have a Yealink and a Gigaset N300A-IP on mine - no issues at all.

Hi pyarwood,

I have a starter package with SipGate which they no longer offer, so I don’t really wanna add anything to SipGate, however I may “rent” a number from A&A in the future. Mainly at the moment I want a solution to have my VoIP number and my regular PSTN number available via the same handset hence getting a N300IP.

PCJM40, thanks for the info I will be sure to read the info on the N300’s interface for more info on this.

I was concerned something needed to be changed/amended.

Thanks again.

MHC, ah that’s good to know and you haven’t made any changes to either of them?

Had the N300A-IP for years set up with two VOIPify and one SIPgate plus a copper PSTN. Then, moved te copper to VoIP with BT Business and they supply a pre programmed Yealink - plugged in and away it went. No changes.

That’s fantastic to hear.

ATM I have SipGate, VoIPFone, and DIDComms (long story), all connected via my Cisco SPA508G. Eventually (once the credit is used up) VoIPFone will be going along with DIDComms and I’ll probably get a number with A&A as they seem to be very well regarded.

Yesterday, having looked at some N300IP’s on eBay, accepted an offer for an N300IP and an R650H handset. So I’ve purchased that and it’s being delivered this week.
