N300IP Setup Issue

[link to this post]

I purchased an N300IP via eBay and I am having some setup issues,

I have registered a Handset, but despite my best efforts I cannot log into the web config page.

I have followed the instructions and typed in https://www.gigaset-config.com which takes me to this page (IP address hidden for security). I click any of the options and eventually the page times out. I have tried DuckDuck Go and Safari browsers but neither make any difference.

Am I missing something obvious?

Have you found the manual online? https://gse.gigaset.com/fileadmin/legacy-assets/A310...

There is a procedure on page 7 for configuring without DHCP. If I were doing this, I would clear everything except my PC, the router and the N300IP from the LAN, use the procedure to assign a fixed IP [within your LAN subnet] to the N300IP and not your router or PC IP address and outside your DHCP address pool. And then use a browser to access the assigned IP address and take it from there.

Sometimes these dumbed down internet 'quick start' methods are more confusing than just doing it with basic methods.

Hi DFScale, thanks for the quick reply.

I have a copy of the manual (in PDF format) but I hadn't seen that section. I do have a different set up on my network (curtesy of a great friend) so maybe that's causing issues. I will ask him to assist me with what you are suggesting and fingers crossed it will give me access.

Thanks again!

I just set up an N300IP this past week, by default it will pull an IP address from DHCP. Can you log on to your router it see what address it was allocated, then connect direct to that address from your browser? Note, I was using Firefox.

Alternatively, could reset back to factory defaults and start afres?

As others suggest, do it direct from your browser and ultimately give it a fixed local IP address.

I access mine through Firefox with no issues.

Make sure you do a full factory reset on the device before you start.

Hi aks, I followed the instructions which advised me to press the front button on the N300IP and the handset assigned to it would display the IP address. This matched the one the link I originally used displayed. However that IP address timed out. I’ve tired resetting the base 3 times but no change. I might try assigning I static IP for the device.

Hi There,
I understand that your N300IP is at the internal IP address you expect, but you're getting a "timed out" when you try to connect to it (from inside your network). This symptom could be as simple as your browser trying to use https://<n300IP address>. These are excellent dect base stations, but they are "mature", and don't believe in this secure web site stuff.
=> The dect base station isn't listening on port 443, so your browser will get a time out eventually.

so ... try connecting using http:<n300IP address>, and check your browser isn't set to automatically connect securely (i.e., switching to https behind your back).

Oh, and yes, you really should set a static IP address for the base station -- if nothing else, to set port forwards in your router if needed.

To access the control panel of the N300, you do not need to press the button on the front. That's for registering new handsets only (via DECT registration).

The N300 will be assigned an IP address, and you can log on to it's control panel using the internally assigned (DHCP) IP address.

So here are the steps I followed:
- log on to my router to see what IP address the N300 had been assigned
- from the browser, us that IP address to access the N300 control panel
- the N300 control panel will require a pin to log in - default is '0000'

Your handsets will connect via DECT. Pressing the button on the front of the N300 unit, allows a new handset to register, which you then activate from the handset itself.

The handsets themselves do not get assigned an IP address.

Good News!

The issue was related to which port the N300IP was connected to. I have now accessed the N300IP, set up the 2 VoIP accounts I want to use with it (for now) and changed the default PIN.

Thanks for everyone's help!
