Technicolor DGA0122 VOIP SIP Setup

[link to this post]

I've just rejoined AAISP - I really like them. They're currently supplying Technicolor DGA0122 routers to new customers. Unfortunately there's almost no documentation on the web about how to configure them.

I wanted to get my long-dormant Voip account up and running. Conveniently the router has two FXS ports to use with Voip services.

It took me ages to work out the settings, so I'm just posting my notes here to save others the same frustration.

This just covers the basics. If anyone works out the advanced stuff then feel free to add to the thread.

Hope it's useful to someone.

Technicolor DGA0122 - Helper for setting up SIP (VOIP) services

1 Open a browser and log in to the router configuration page - http://192.168.1.1

2 Hover over the Telephony panel and press the gear button

3 In the Global tab, set Enabled to 'ON'

4 Move down to the Sip Network Setting in the same tab

5 Press Edit button on the right and enter details of your SIP service. Enter settings according to your sip provider's instructions.
- Primary Regstrar is the server name eg sip.myprovider.net
- Primary RegistrarPort is often 5060
- Set other entries according to your sip provider

Once everything is set, press the tick/check button on the right to save

6 Go the the Phone Numbers tab

7 Under Telephone Numbers, enter your SIP account details in the first line as follows:
- Enable the number by setting the slider switch to ON
- Set UserName to your account number or user name with your SIP provider
- URI - this defaults to 'line1' - if you have problems connecting to your sip service then CHANGE THIS TO BLANK
- Password is your sip service password that corresponds to the user name you entered above
- the defaults should work for the other parameters.

Press Close button, and it should attempt a connection.

If it connect successfully, the Telephony Panel on the router config front page should show - 1 Registered Account - and the phone LED on the router should turn to constant green.

If you have problems with your sip service, you might try turning off SIP ALG as follows:

1 Select the WAN Services panel and click the gear button

2 Select the Settings tab

3 Scroll down to NAT Helpers (ALGs)

4 Turn off the switch for SIP

Old thread resurrection alert, I just got connected to Giganet full fibre and have been trying to configure sipgate with the Technicolor DGA4134 router they supply. Similarly no documentation came with it and I can't find a pdf manual for it anywhere online. Anyway, this post helped immensely especially the bit about leaving the URI blank so a belated thank you for that post

I've been struggling with a DGA0122 by Utility Warehouse to setup an Orbtalk extension to it.

I'll list my setup as its now registered

Primary Registrar = sip.orbtalk.co.uk
Primary RegistrarPort = 5060
Primary Proxy = (yourid).cloud.orbtalk.com
Primary ProxyPort = 5060
Expire Time = 3600
Transport Type = UDP
Registration Retry Interval = = 3600

Telephone Numbers
SIP Profile = on
UserName = [email protected]
URI = blank nothing to enter wont register
Password = your password
DisplayName = phone number 44 and whatever your number is

SIP-ALG Disabled

I have tested as of yet as I want to connect an analougue phone dailler for my house alarm

Tip: do your basic setup and in/outbound call tests first with a soft phone client, before you try the setup on hardware.

I had the softphone working, I was using zoiper, registered fine, was getting the router to register that wasn't fun 🙂

I did test the analougue dialer once the router was registered, dials and works great 👍

Just wanted to say thanks to the original poster as I've just used these instructions and they worked fine with my sipgate.co.uk account.

The only thing I had to do was put sipgate.co.uk in both the primary register and the primary proxy. If I just put it in the primary register and saved it - it didn't actually save it. You have to put details into both fields and then it connects fine.

Many thanks for posting the instructions.

Thanks for posting this help. I have just got one of these from UW, and can connect to an external SIP provider (AQL) with no problem, but I can't make it connect to my own 3CX self-hosted PBX system, which is on one PC on the network. The Global settings on the DGA0122 have the SIP network using 'wan' as the interface and I wonder if that is the problem, stopping ot looking on the local network? I can't seem to change that setting... Any ideas??

Firmware options for SIP server are probably hardcoded to the WAN port as 99.99% of users will be aiming it at an external SIP provider, rather than a self hosted soft PBX.

I have just come across this thread. I am trying to use the DGA0122 with a sipgate basic account. The account works fine with Zoiper, and I have followed all the preceding instructions, including turning off the SIP ALG helper, but whatever I try, it won't register. I can get "registering" with an amber dot, and the router home page saying "1 registering account" but it doesn't make it, unfortunately. Does anyone have any further suggestions? Thanks.
