In reply to a post by kevinrduke:
Old contract: starter with UK allnet flat rate
New contract: business L with UK allnet flat rate (incl. UK mobile service)
New price: £11.96 /month per user (excl. VAT) thereafter £14.95 per user (excl. VAT)
Discount in the first 12 months after conversion: 20%
Date of changeover: 01/01/2023

Did they not offer you the 'S' package at 9.95/m (+VAT) ?

I await my email. I've been evaluating Sipgate Basic since June for future use, not used it in anger, and probably won't now. I'll be flogging my Grandstream VoIP desk phone on ebay

Given that us Sipgate Basic users are likely to have an forced move to a monthly contract fairly soon, has anyone produced a quick summary of the alternative options ?

At this moment in time (unless anyone wants to confirm otherwise) I am only aware of Kevin getting notification from Sipgate of a 1st Jan 2023 forced move to a chargeable business package.

This is the first I have read about this.

I have two sipgate basic accounts with numbers that I would want to keep (they are only used for incoming calls).

What would be the cheapest way of keeping these numbers for the purpose of just incoming calls.

First, wait until Sipgate tell you that they will start charging you. (I haven't heard anything from them yet; I migrated my number only a few months ago though).

Then the cheapest option I know is AAISP, at £1.44 per number per month after the Feb 2023 price rise:
https://www.aa.net.uk/voice-and-mobile/voip-informat...
(plus £19.44 per number for setup and porting)

Thanks. I haven't heard anything yet but read that someone else wasn't given much notice of the change so I'm trying to plan ahead.

Actually I don't even need incoming calls, just need the number to go straight to voicemail for the purposes I use it for.

I assume this is still the cheapest/best method to achieve that ?

Thanks again

AAISP does apparently include voicemail:

A list of home VoIP options has just published over on ISPReview:

Thanks for the reply - I'll read through that article properly.

At a quick glance it would seem that Number People are offering free number porting too, and their basic plan is free of charge.
