VOIP DECT Handset Recommendations

[link to this post]

Hi,

I'm after any recommendations for VOIP DECT handsets, as we our ageing Panasonic handsets are unlikely to be compatible with any of the VOIP base stations (unless I go down either the replacement router or ATA route)

The key requirements for me are that the phone has clear audio (we have always struggled a bit with the Pana handsets) and doesn't have a horrible clicky keypad (which was the reason I took back some Gigaset handsets and swapped them for the Pana ones)

My son has Gigaset C630 phones which have the horrible keypad and Curry's have some A690s which are much better. (Both non-VOIP handsets afaik).

It would be great to have an answering machine on the base station, but that might limit me to going down the Gigaset route. Aesthetically I have a preference for Yealink handsets, but have never had one in my hands to compare.

So just after any recommendations, please.

I have a Gigaset N300IP A base station and the Gigaset C430 handsets.

I prefer the voicemail operated by the likes of Voipfone and Sipgate rather than that of the N300 (A) as I get emails with sound files of the messages. I can listen to these files with a PC or mobile phone.

I have same equipment and find it reliable and works well. I replace the rechargeable batteries every couple of years.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the BT smart hub supplied with fttp etc is also a dect base station so dect handsets might be able to be paired with the hub

Just to follow up on this, I eventually went with the Yealink W73P with an additional W73H handset.

We haven't really used the phones very much but an early test call suggested that they were a significant step up from the audio quality on our Panasonic DECT handsets.

At the moment I am trying to port our home phone line from IDNet to A&A VOIP which is proving more challenging than I expected. It feels like death by one hundred questions as I try and answer all the questions that A&A are asking to ensure the port goes through first time. (No criticism of A&A intended - it just feels like a process that isn't very mature.)

I’m using a Snom m15 and it’s… average?

The sound is fine, though I’m not sure it supports HD voice / wide and audio.

The ringtones are pretty hideous, and no option for custom tones.

The menu system is poor. It’s surprisingly difficult to access the phone book. You have to go into the menu, select directory, and then either local or base (they’re different), and only then are you in the phone book.

The handset feels a bit cheap. It’s not awful, but it’s nowhere near the standard of their desk phones. The screen is easily scratched (I presume I’ve done this when I’ve had the phone on the belt clip and brushed into things).

It seems reliable and the battery is good.

I will be in the market for another DECT VoIP system at some stage but probably won’t get another m15 system.

Likewise, used these for years. Newest one - GoBox 100 has call blocking. Otherwise very similar. Great kit and all the newer handsets support HD calling.
