I'm using this one with one of their £1.80 a month accounts.
I've trawled through their site and try as I might I'm unable to find any accounts for £1.80 per month. Cheapest I could find is the Voipfone 100 at £5/month (ex vat). Even PAYG would be in excess of £1.80

Must be old age and detiorating eyesight since it's on the front of the Voipfone site. Voipfone "Flex," although you do have to click for more info to discover that it's £1.50/month + vat (£1.80 inc vat)

My bad.......

Not something you'd expect to say, but it looks like for both monthly cost and call charges Andrews & Arnold are cheaper

I do remember at first it seemed to unregister itself a lot. When you open the App, there's a small button in the very top left hand 'Voipfone'. This should display in green. You can click on that and it opens a small Account Detail window. That will show whether you're registered or not. If not, from memory I think it allows you at that point to click on Register. Normally that fixes it.
Alternatively, switch off then on again the phone and that will probably kick it in.......(Edited)
Also previously I was using Zoiper but had too many issues with it.

clyde123,

Having contacted Voipfone and been advised on resolving the registration issue, I mentioned the app to be advised I could register either the app/my SIP phone but not both. In order to use both I would have to pay for an extension per month. Suffice to say I am happy to leave it registered with the SIP phone.

A&A are one of the providers I am considering using in the future, if I need/decide to move fully over to VoIP. Such as when FTTP becomes available locally and I can ditch my POTS service.

I disagree, Voipfone is a better choice and likely to be cheaper. You don't need a call package as call usage is unlikely to exceed the monthly fee. Calls between Voipfone subscribers are free as is a call to Voipfone's help desk. Select a phone number from what is available from Voipfone and that is free as well. Retention of the number after this first month costs £3.60 pm. From scratch, you can be up and running in under an hour with £2 call credit thrown in. It's a PAYG service, only requiring a call deposit to be made for outbound chargeable calls onto the public network. There is no time limit expiry on any deposit made but strictly no refunds if you discontinue with the service..

There are porting fees payable for a number, inbound and outbound

Registration is tedious though, but once you have jumped through all the hoops, the service is easy to setup with any SIP hardware you wish to use or via their softphone app. Voipfone will hold your hand with the setup if needed.

@ CJT

Good to hear you got it resolved.
I always assumed you can connect multiple endpoints (phones/app) to a Voip service.

You live and learn.

You can run it through Asterisk / FreePBX. But learning curve.

Sipgate allow multiple handset registrations. It puts me off Voipfone that they have chosen to nobble their service in this way, to force people to pay per handset rather than per number.

I am with Voipfone and I pay per number not per number of handsets.
