Help please - Adaptor for VOIP

HI - I am trying to move to VOIP from a normal BT landline - we have a gigaset 430A handset with a second phone in another room. The company I plan to use for VOIP (VOIPline) has told me to check that any adaptor I buy will be compatible with the current gigaset phone. I have read the Grandstream HT-801 is a good adaptor but am struggling to find out if it's compatible. I've been on Grandstreams online chat to no avail as the person I spoke to was asking me techy questions about RJ's and other things which I didn't understand. I am not a techy person - just someone trying to do something that I thought would be simple. Any help much appreciated.

A&A might be a good ISP to use as they should be able to port your landline number to themselves without closing the associated broadband service.

The original process was to move both WLR and broadband to AAISP, and then AAISP would use a renumber-and-port-out to pull the phone number off the landline.

But I don't think that moving WLR between providers is possible any more, since Sep 5 2023 when WLR went stop-sell.

I'm using a Gigaset C430A on a Voip , no problems.
It's fed from a Draytek Vigor 2860Vn-Plus router. That might be a bit overkill for your needs though.

In the past I've used a number of ATAs, like the Linksys PAP2T. And variations, forget the model number/s off the top of my head right now.
I've retired most of the ATAs now, preferring to use Draytek routers with built in Voip. It just makes configuration simpler.

I would say, if you have no experience of setting up an ATA, try to use a Voip provider who will at least try to help if you have initial configuration difficulties. I've no experience with Voipline so can't comment there.

I would definitely second the suggestion above about a N300 or N300A. They're good and not fiddly to setup. And the Gigasets work well with them.

I too am using a Gigaset N300 with a C430 handset. I also use a Cisco SPA122 without problems too. The Cisco is no longer sold of course but you can buy them on Ebay.

In your situation I think the best decision you could make would be to use a VoIP provider who will supply you a preconfigured ATA or DECT base and can manage the provisioning on your behalf. It's not trivial to get working behind NAT while also keeping secure.

I use a HT801 with Panasonic handsets. Don't know about Gigaset gear, but I've not heard of systemic problems between the Grandstream and Gigasets. The HT801 is highly configurable, so it's likely it could be set up to work with most things, somehow. That configurability is double-edged if you're not techy - there are many parameters, and the HT801 UI is not the most modern or well-designed. I would echo @clyde123's advice to choose a Voip provider who will give you some help if necessary.
