Vodafone VoIP service numbers?

[link to this post]

I was curious as to whether Vodafone VoIP has any service numbers, for example 17070?

So far, although it all works, the service seems very basic, without even 1571 voicemail! There is a working 1471 though wink!

Back in the 70s I worked as an International Telephonist in what was Wren House and our IDQ had books from various Countries that we used to look up numbers for our customers, local exchanges did the same, then it was cheap and we weren't called Maureen 🤣🤣🤣

My Mum was a telephonist as well. She did trunk calls if I remember correctly. Where was/is Wren House out of interest?

I am sure 192 never cost that much before it was all opened up to competition by Oftel.

Before the regulator opened DQ to competition in 2003 , BT charged 40p for two searches ( effectively 20p each if you wanted two numbers ) and BT often dealt with a million DQ calls per month , these days you would have to be quite mad to use a 118 number to obtain a number given the £2-£3 minimum charge

Wren House (no longer BT) is opposite St Paul's Cathedral next to Godliman Street acoss the road from the old Faraday building which housed the Continental Exchange at the time,

I don't know if any of the equipment is still in situ in either building now as most of it was old strowager stuff, BT took over and most of the work was going to be transferred to Mondial House, Upper Thames Street. (also no longer there [it looked like a White wedding cake next to Cannon Street Station]) which was to be the new Automatic Exchange, I looked after some of the asbestos problems in it as the CWU H&S Union Rep. I took voluntary redundancy not long afterwards and get a small pension from them nowadays.

Wow! is that what they charge these days, I assume we charged in IDQ as well but can't for the life of me remember. We didn't have separate operators for that, it was just a part of the rotation in our exchange.
