VOIP external ringer

Hello,

I hope someone can help with my query. I am looking for an external ringer for my 94 year old mother-in-law. She has problems with her hearing, and can't hear the phone when it rings. She lives on her own, so it is essential that she is contactable by phone. Can anyone please recommend an external ringer that I can connect to her setup?

Her setup is as follows:
From the wall into a microfilter. From the microfilter the DSL goes to Sky MAX router, and phone line goes to another microfilter. The microfilter has an ADSL and phone port. The ADSL goes to the Sky MAX router. Then from the router, it goes into the back of the Yealink W73P phone.

Not doable with your present kit, I think.

The Yealink is an IP phone, so no place for an external ringer between router and DECT base. And I an not aware of a DECT external ringer.

You could do it with an ATA and a conventional external ringer, but you would have to discard the Yealink system

May I ask, how does she hear the existing ring as you don’t mention any ring booster in the current set up.

the Gigaset E560HX handset may be of better use for your MiL. It has a very loud ringer and can flash when it rings .

It is hit and miss. She's hard of hearing and has the TV on very loud. . She can hear it if the TV is off.

Can you confirm if it goes from a router LAN port or the router phone port into the back of the Yealink? I'm purely trying to determine if its actually IP from the router to the handset or analogue.

Having just googled the Yealink model it does appear to be an IP only device so an old fashion type 431A additional ringer isn't going to work.

You would need a ringer that can connect to the DECT base as another handset, or an IP one assuming your VoIP provider supports dual registrations.

All I can really suggest for the Yealink setup is additional handsets that can be dotted around the place.

It doesn't say it works with generic DECT base stations, but it's called "AmpliDECT" so it might be worth enquiring before placing an order.
