Zen Cart Help Please

[link to this post]

After years of looking and leanring here, have decided to join as I could do with some help.

I'm looking to make a small on line shop to sell some things I have here and maybe start a small on line presence. I know a fair bit about html and CSS but the online shop thing is taking me to the next level.

I've found zen cart and installed it on my website which looks great in terms of functionality, but in terms of actual looks, it looks awful smile

Does anyone have any idea about how best to obtain an easily customisable template, I know nada about php so this is me totally outwith my comfort level.

Thank you for any help

Youve made a good choice picking Zen Cart, in terms of usability and customising, it really is a no brainer for someone starting out.

I would strongly urge you to read through this article and look at the other tutorials on the Zen Cart web-site:
http://tutorials.zen-cart.com/index.php?article=142
If you have experience with HTML and CSS, youll laugh at how easy it is.

Another great web-site I have found is:
http://www.advancewebsoft.com/downloads/free-scripts...
This will generate you a set of buttons, with a wide choice of designs, ideal for someone lazy like me!

That should be enough to get you started smile

PHP uses "Template" files to structure the HTML output, with CSS added for the styles.

If you understand HTML and CSS, then should have no trouble changing the look of your shop. (without ever needing to change the PHP) smile

Thank you both for your valued inpuut. Here's a stupid question. Where do I find the html, I just can't get it and what's being called by the php, or should I not need to go into this.

Wat I'm hoping ios that I might be able to make some mods to the html, but just can't find the sgements of html code.

Any thoughts please?

I should also have said that am using zen cart 1.3.8a patched and the tutorial to start using my own template doesn't show as I'd think it might. Guess there must be an updated version somewhere, am going to keep looking, but if any1 knows...

Thanks again

Haven't used zen cart myself, but the html will be within the .php files themselves, or at least link to from there.

ZenCart works from template files, so you dont need to edit any HTML. You should really read the link I gave you earlier, it will put you on the right track.
