Google release encrypted search

[link to this post]

so Google have now released their SSL Secure search, so far only at:

https://www.google.com/

meaning of course, that it sets up a secure connection and any searches through that facility will withold any referrer info, basically that it was a search through Google (where they came from) and what the search terms were (keywords).

of course, once landing on a site, visitors are still tracked normally via that site's webstats, as are any onward clicks to any other sites.
It's just the initial search and the landing page from Google that's affected.

not tried it out much yet, but it doesn't seem to be any slower..
no 'UK only' search, but they had already messed that up anyway for non IE users

Bad news for web-masters and Marketing?

i wonder what the unintended consequences might be?

https urls are usually referred tongue. The only upshot of this is to stop ease dropping of searches.

Thanks for the reply,
have you tried a search through that url? what are you seeing?

because i'm not seeing anything frown

and why do Google say
As another layer of privacy, SSL search turns off a browser's referrers . Web browsers typically turn off referrers when going from HTTPS to HTTP mode to provide extra privacy. By clicking on a search result that takes you to an HTTP site, you could disable any customizations that the website provides based on the referrer information.

over here?
