Embed flash video on websites?

I have some avi files I want to convert to flash so i can embed them on my website, its a family website so I dont want to use You Tube or such i'd rather convert and host myself.

Many thanks in advance on how to do the above.

I would use something like this as the actual embeded player on the site once I had converted my video to a format it supports.
