It is something downby sky because they use gmail I believe to provide the email
service from what I can gather you only see it when you use outlook to recieve email.

Ok. I read that Sky use gmail for their email service, but they must have their own set of rules and restrictions on the service. Shame.

Well thanks folks for your help and info thus far.

I've had a look at 123-reg and Heart Internet, both of which look good and appear to be what I'm looking for. What I'm still a bit confused about is hosting. Do I need it considering that I don't have any plans for a website? I currently use Thunderbird as an e-mail client, could I continue to use it?

As you can see I have resolved by using a different SMTP server.

I do a similar thing, as I've 3 from addresses through gmail SMTP and 1 from address through a 3rd party SMTP via the gmail interface.

In my instance, it's needed for SPF and DKIM signing.

It's so much easier having it all in one place and through one interface.

One of my friends is on Sky and his email is identical to my Gmail in appearance and startup. I did wonder if they were one and the same.
