Dedicated forum for Ace Internet?

Hi,

I am a new Ace Internet user too, and would like to know if that would be possible to get a dedicated forum for that ISP. This would ease communication, especially nowadays with the P2P throttling story...

Also, I would like to point out that P2P is not only used for unauthorised purposes. My Linux distributor (Mandriva) uses Bittorrent to sell its distribution and it is really important for me to not have it limited. Well, I hope the temporary limit will not become permanent. Steve, thank you to let us know as soon as possible.

mistral have their own forum, and its not being used. i dont know why all these ace threads are not in there.

Theres no point, Ace might not be around much longer with all the traffic shaping going on.

trust me mate, ace will be deffo permanent traffic shaping and p2p 24-7 soon because there is no way unlimited, unthrottling, un-traffic shaping during office hours but I think Mistral will going to say "I don't care about 20% customers moaned about p2p heavy downloading or greedy p2p leave pc on while going to work or out and we going to put traffic shaping and throttling p2p 24-7 permanent".

I knew it will happen sooner or later because many many more new sign up think oh great, look at Ace, no throttling, no traffic shaping, reports are very good so fars, ok we all going there and sign up....and now Mistral had a speed issues problem, now they put traffic shaoing on last Friday without anyones know !!!!

Strange cant find anything over at Mistral support or status page about this tempory traffic shaping except for the fact that on the 9th of this month same time the problems started Mistral started upgrading all there customers lines to max

A number of Mistral ADSL customers have been or are in the process of being upgraded to the ADSL MAX product which allows us to give access to speeds potentially up to 8Mb on some DSL lines. You will be advised be email when or if this is going to affect you. These upgrades will not require any new equipment, and an engineer visit will not be necessary.

We have compiled some important points on how the new ADSL Max service will run in the early stages of the new service going live on a ADSL line. The improved upload and download speeds are heavily dependent on line quality and distance from your telephone exchange. Mistral have provided an online availability checker (www.mistral.net/adslchecker) which will give an indication of the download speed you can expect on your upgraded ADSL Max circuit.

Having been upgraded to ADSL MAX, before you contact Mistral Support please note all the points below:

ADSL MAX works by allowing your line speeds to fluctuate this ensures that you have a continual service rather than your service either being up and working or down. Therefore you will notice that you line speeds will fluctuate.

During the first 10 days of your ADSL MAX line is continually monitored to determine what the maximum speed your connection can achieve this is called your Maximum Stable Rate (MSR).

Once this is established this will be the Maximum speed you can receive on this line.

Mistral will only be able to log faults when your line drops 30% below your MSR, up until this point you service is running at an acceptable level.

We strongly recommend that you regularly reboot your router, as this will allow your line to re sync allowing you to obtain the best possible speeds. We would suggest that you do each week or more regularly if you start to experience slow speeds.

You must ensure that you have microfilters on all telephone sockets.

Your ADSL Max service will be seriously affected by having any non ADSL devices on the same telephone line (Fax machines, Sky, some digital phones with voicemail etc.)

If you continue to have difficulties then please contact Mistral Support.

Because we are Ace Internet customers, not Mistral's. Some people may not be aware Ace buys its bandwidth from Mistral. And also because we may also have to contact Steve for other technical purposes than P2P.

only one way to find out is to ring up mistral on their own site and ask if there is any p2p or traffic shaoing on ??? if they say no.....then we know finally it all down to ace not mistral.

How do you know, mistral might blame ace and ace blame mistral.

The problem is you don't no who is telling the truth.

I was with an isp that started traffic shaping and when i asked them to explan and why, they was less than honest, just shows you that you can not trust these ISP'S
