Broadband with web hosting

[link to this post]

Would appreciate any help with the following.
Desperate to change from dial up to broadband but seeing so many unhappy broadband users on these forums who do I choose?

Having been on Tiscali dial-up I am not particularly worried about speed, but do want:-
1. Reliability
2. Good support from a UK call centre
3. Hosting of my website inclusive or at reasonable cost.
4. Ability to use my domain name .co.uk without service provider included in title.
5. Does anyone know if it matters which programme was used to create a website? I have used WYSIWYG. (Very good programme for an amateur).
6. On the sites offering webspace

Hi, you could start with http://www.thinkbroadband.com/isp/compare.html and make your own informed choice! From personal experience I have enjoyed NewNet for a UK based customer service centre, rock solid connection and fantastic support.

I would always keep my hosting / email divorced from my bandwidth provider. www.purplecloud.com do both for a very good cost; again I have used them for 3-years.

Dreamweaver seems to be the industry standard for web design but it is not intuitive like some of the other products; FrontPage gets a lot of stick but is a lot easier to use than the aforementioned.

Good luck - Blue

There has been some short term impact on the services we supply (as will be the case for other Entanet resellers) however another 155Mb segment is being lit up on Friday with another still in reserve which should sort that out.

A 4th 622Mb pipe is scheduled to be delivered by BT on 21st March and a 5th is on order for June. Each of these will provide 4 155Mb segments to be made available as needed (and as justified by income).

You can check on the Entanet forum if you want comments on the service from customers rather than from me or the reps from other ISPs.

Thanks for the info UKFSN.
I wanted to phone your company but could not find a sales contact number.
Could you advise on the following please?
1. Hosting of my website inclusive or at reasonable cost.
2. Ability to use my domain name .co.uk without service provider included in title.
3. Does it matter which programme was used to create a website? I have used WYSIWYG. (Very good programme for an amateur).
4. On the sites offering webspace

The office will be closed today until lunchtime. The phone number is at the bottom of every page on our website.

For UKFSN we provide free webspace with our ADSL services including free hosting of domains with no labeling on our side.

It doesn't matter how to create the website so long as you can upload using FTP or SFTP.

Also had a look at PurpleCloud. Just waiting for a few questions to be answered by them and will prob sign up.

What services do you actually use there?

Let's hope they don't get flooded with new users and go off cos of you
