What's LLU?

LLU [Local Loop Unbundling] is where an ISP can put their own hardware in the BT exchange and then pass your broadband connection through it, so you can choose to use that ISP on their own network.

I believe the advantgaes are they you should get a higher speed than say ADSL Max which is up to 8Mb's. But as always, the reality is somewhat different. Disadvantages I'm not sure but up until recently it was real pain migrating from LLU suppliers and still is to a certain extent because it involves a physical wire change, where as a MAX migrating is done via a keyboard I believe.

As the previous post mentioned Sam Knows will let you know if your exchange is LLU and by whom.
