Moving from Metronet?

[link to this post]

OK, so we been wanting to switch from Metronet for a while now (service is starting to get noticeably sluggish at peak times and we feel can get a better deal elsewhere since they took so long getting us to 8MB and needed reminding again and again) but am unsure of the best ISP to go with.

According to Metronet we have used 49.67GB of bandwidth in the past year, which averages out at just over 4.1GB/month. The average bill for the past year has been

Thanks for all the helpful input so far!

The problem I have is that I'm trying to find a package suitable for my parents home. Now normally they will not use over the 3GB included in Newnet's LITE package (on average they will use between 2 and 3) but whenever I'm home for any length of time (which is pretty infrequent and will become even more so once graduated from uni), that bandwidth suddenly jumps and it will probably be more around the 15GB mark (even when limiting my normal p2p habits etc). So when this does happen, Metronet's usage ceiling is hit and it starts to limit speed at peak times (which feels slower than a 56k modem used to!) as well as being charged the max monthly charge of
